💙Language Arts: This week, we focused on determining the main idea. Students worked on different main idea activities such as reading a paragraph and writing the main idea with supporting details, putting together a main idea web with details, and engaging in discussions on the difference between the main idea and the topic.
💛Writing: Students have started the new personal narrative that is all about a time when they learned something new. We are focusing on writing paragraphs (Introduction, Body Paragraphs, and Conclusion) with 3-5 sentences in each.
💙Math: We started Unit 2 which is area and multiplication. Students worked with square tiles to determine the area of various figures. We will continue working with area and multiplication for the length of this unit.
💛Science: We will be pausing our Science lessons as we have finished the first unit: Power of Flowers. Science resumes after the section of Social Studies that we have started.
💙Social Studies: Students practiced labeling the Great Lakes, the Upper and Lower Peninsulas, as well as the surrounding states. They showed their knowledge of this information through a map quiz.
*Be sure to check in with your child regarding the completion of independent reading books and book reports. If you have questions, this is a great topic to discuss at conferences.
