💚What We Learned This Week ðŸ’š

💚Language Arts: We have wrapped up our learning about significant influential women in honor of Women's History Month through timelines on Google Classroom and the "about me" worksheets and bubble brainstorms.

💚Writing: Students are writing their final drafts on a Google Slides Template. They will then record themselves reading their chapters and input the audio into their slides. Students are encouraged to record at home if they are not done. This writing project will be submitted to the Ren Baldwin Technology Festival on Friday, April 15th.

💚Math: We have continued working through Unit 6 (measurement). This week, our focus has been on telling time to the nearest minute as well as working with word problems that require students to determine how much time has passed, the start time, and the end time of an activity.

💚Science: Our science unit is complete and we will now pause for our next social studies unit.

💚Social Studies:  We have finished reading Chapter 4 which was about how Michigan became a state. Students have also completed their Google Slides Template that is replacing the written study guide for this chapter. We will review the slides when we return from spring break before taking the Chapter 4 test.

💚WORD STUDY💚

We will be resuming word study when we return from spring break. This unit will focus on long "e" vowel patterns in accented syllables.

The words for Friday, April 15th are:
between, increase, extreme, secret

Week of March 7 - 11

The month of March is off to a great start! Our P2 strategy this week was social intelligence. We learned that 7% of what we say is our words and 93% of what we say is our nonverbal communication (body language and tone of voice). This is something that is important to think about as we build friendships and practice peaceful resolutions.

We are having many students come to school without water bottles. The office only has so many water bottles and it is important that your student brings their own to school.

ðŸ’™What We Learned This Week ðŸ’›

💙Language Arts: Students are working hard to learn about significant influential women in honor of Women's History Month. They have been using their reading skills to learn about each person's most important achievements in the form of timelines, "about me" worksheets, and bubble brainstorms.

💛Writing: Students have continued working with their informational writing groups. Each person has decided what subtopic they are going to write about for their group's topic. Students are improving their researching, note-taking, and organizational skills as they work to compile information for their chapters. We will continue working on this group project throughout the next couple of weeks.

💙Math: We have continued working through Unit 5, which is about Fractions. Students are learning about equivalent fractions as well as fractions that are equivalent to whole numbers.

💛Science: We have continued working through our Science Unit - Invisible Forces. Students participated in the final two experiments for this unit by exploring the properties of magnets. They have determined what things a magnet can attract and repel as well as use magnets to unlock a door. Ask your student about how they made a magnet open their lock!
