We hope that your child enjoyed the two snow days this week! We are looking forward to getting back to our normal schedule this coming week!
Due to the Snow Days, Mrs. Knuth's class will be going ice skating on Friday, February 11th. If you have not registered your child's skate size, please do so.
Miss Yoder's and Mr. Persenaire's class had a wonderful time skating on Friday!
Our Valentine's Day Party will be on Monday, February 14th from 12:30-1:30 PM in our classrooms. If you have a volunteer background check turned into the office and are signed up to help with an activity, you are welcome to join us for the party.
For the party, students should bring Valentine's in for their classmates with one Valentine addressed for each classmate. We will send home a class list with each student. If you need Valentine's, please let us know as we will have extras available.
Thank you, in advance, to EVERYONE helping to make this party special for our students.
The next report will be due on Friday, February 11th.
This is a great time to do some goal setting with your child and figure out how many pages or chapters your child will need to read to finish in time. To step it up a bit this time we would like students to work on adding evidence to show how their characters in the story demonstrated the character traits reported.
💙What We Learned This Week 💛
💙Language Arts: This week, we continue to meet in small group instruction to work on comprehension and asking/answering questions. Many groups are reading about Martin Luther King, Jr.
💛Writing: Students are wrapping up their final drafts of their Informational Writings. We are going to start a small group informational writing for this upcoming week. This should be lots of fun for the kids to work together on a topic of choice!
💙Math: This week, we worked on dividing larger numbers into equal groups. We will wrap up Unit 4 with our Unit Test toward the end of the week and start Unit 5, which is about fractions.
💛Science: We have paused Science while we begin our next Social Studies unit.
💙Social Studies: We have completed Chapter 3 and will work on reviewing the chapter. Because of the snow days, we are delayed getting through the review. The test will be next Thursday. Please be aware that students will need to choose one person to write a paragraph about on the test. This paragraph should include a topic sentence and 4 - 5 details. Practicing at home is the best way to ensure that your student is ready to write the paragraph.
💙WORD STUDY💛
We will continue with the same word study from last week as we were not able to finish the unit due to snow days.
Spelling words: suppose, rowboat, stolen
