Week of November 15

We would like to wish all of our families a very happy and restful break next week. We hope you enjoy the extra time with your little ones! Just a reminder that there is no school on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. There will no blog next week.

🀎 What We Learned This Week πŸ€Ž

🀎Language Arts: Students participated in a reader's theater titled Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving. Be sure to ask your student what happened to the turkeys on Farmer MacNugget's Farm! They did a great job and had lots of fun this week with reading.

🀎Writing: Students completed the personal narrative writing about their Thanksgiving traditions (or another holiday if Thanksgiving is not celebrated at home). Stories will come home next week. Enjoy reading them!

🀎Math: Unit 3 continues to focus on addition and subtraction strategies. We are teaching students multiple strategies for each operation. Students will be able to use the strategy of their choice.

🀎Science:  Next week we begin our Animals Through Time Unit.

🀎Social Studies:  Chapter 2 test has been returned and we will take a short pause while we work on our next science unit.

*Be sure to check in with your child regarding the completion of independent reading books and book reports. If you have questions, this is a great topic to discuss at conferences.

🀎 The Nutcracker Program πŸ€Ž

🧑Please make sure your child knows what to wear for their role in the program.

🀎 Snacks and Water Bottles πŸ€Ž

We are have seen some relief with students forgetting snack but not enough. We are still at approximately 5 students per class forgetting snack.  Again, we understand that this can happen from time to time, but we need your help. This forgetfulness is taking a toll on our resources and time. Please help your student prepare for school by packing a snack and water bottle.

3rd Grade Necessities...

  • Pack a snack and water bottle daily. *The office has a limited amount of snacks for emergency purposes.
  • Make your student's lunch choice for the week. Teachers must go in and manually make the choice for your child if you don't make it at home.
  • Set aside reading time at least 5 days a week
  • Check your child's blue take-home folder daily. Look for papers being returned for home, notes from school, homework assignments, etc.
